Ross elected to be part of the Class of '70 but many of our Class would have known him especially the RMC guys. And of course as Curator of the RMC Museum he was a prominent figure around the College.

MCKENZIE, James Ross [Sept 1, 1946 - Jan 12, 2019] It is with great sadness that we announce Ross's passing on Jan. 12, 2019, after a brief struggle with cancer. Beloved husband of 47 years of Gail. Cherished father of Kara and Jamie. Much loved father-in-law of Stephen. Treasured and adored grandfather of Hayden and Isla. Predeceased by his parents, Ellen and Alexander Ross McKenzie, and sister, Mary Rushton. Cremation and private family service have taken place. A memorial service to celebrate Ross's life will be held on Friday, March 1, 2019 at 2pm, at Currie Hall, in the Currie Building at the Royal Military College of Canada in Kingston, followed by a reception at the Senior Staff Mess. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Mesothelioma Foundation, the St. Vincent de Paul Society of Kingston, or the Salvation Army would be appreciated by the family.1

'69er Fundraising Challenge - RMC Expedition Club

Gentlemen,

I have been volunteered (shanghaied) into being co-chair of an RMC Foundation fundraising campaign. The attached letter lays out the situation quite succinctly.

The campaign will reach out RMC Club Branches, ex-cadets through Class Secretaries, RMC Staff & Cadets as well as families and friends of the expedition club members. Wednesday last the Ottawa Branch contributed a “kick-start” donation of $1000. To “kick-start” donations from individual ex-cadets I am reaching out to my email list of 69ers with a challenge. My list is not exhaustive so please share with anyone I've missed:

• I will donate $50 (to a maximum of $1000) for each one of you who makes a donation to this effort.
• Donate as much as you like 😄 but a minimum of $50 should be the target.
• I don't need to know anything other than to get an email from you indicating your commitment.
• Donations will be accrued to your Foundation lifetime giving as well as the Class of '69 lifetime giving.
•  Note that donations before year-end will ensure you have a tax receipt to offset your 2018 taxes👍

Lieutenant-Colonel Wright is a retired Canadian Forces Veteran. Following his distinguished career in the Canadian Forces, Mr. Wright has been a devoted volunteer. He has been an active member of the Armed Forces Communications Electronics Association in Ottawa, Shilo and Calgary, and served as the Calgary Chapter president from 1996 to 1998. In 2003, he was the co-director of the Calgary Organizing Committee for the centennial celebrations of The Royal Canadian Corps of Signals. Mr. Wright volunteered to act as the president of the Calgary Branch of the Royal Military College Club from 2004 to 2006 and is currently director-at-large. Since 2005, he has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Communications and Electronics Branch Museum Foundation, in Kingston, Ontario. Mr. Wright has been a volunteer member of the Board of Directors of the Royal Alberta United Services Institute since 2007.  He joined the Calgary Chapter of the Canadian Association of Veterans in United Nations Peacekeeping in 2001.  Mr. Wright  has served his association in many capacities including as project director for the construction of commemorative parks, master of ceremonies for events, Alberta director, and currently serves as CANVUPnational vice president.

Linda Wright

If you ever need inspiration to defend and educate on the role of the Canadian Military, just look at the humongous effort of Linda to keep it front and centre.

Linda was recently awarded the Sovereign's Medal for Volunteerism and the Minister of Veterans Affairs Commendation.

Way to go Linda and Rick.

Her Facebook entry reads:

I am feeling humbled and very proud to have been honoured with both the Sovereign’s Medal for Volunteerism in May and, last night, the Minister of Veteran’s Affairs Commendation.
I received both for doing work that I love and will continue to do so.
I would also like to congratulate the other 17 deserving people who were with me last night and my husband and son who were both there.
